Just a few hours of rain and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s smart city Gurugram gets waterlogged. On Thursday, thousands of commuters got stuck in traffic jams reportedly for more than six hours as rain led to waterlogging in many areas of Gurugram city.

The Delhi-Jaipur highway is choc-a-block with trucks that are not moving even an inch and almost all roads in the area are clogged.

The Gurugram police, early on Friday, also advised against people coming to Gurugram from Delhi to avoid getting stuck in traffic jams due to flooding on roads.

The Haryana Government also declared a two-day holiday on July 29 and July 30 in Gurugram schools.

However, the announcement led to confusion as it was announced early today and many school buses and other vehicles were seen on the road ferrying children.

Many parents, who were already on their way to drop their children to schools, vented out their anger at the authorities’ inappropriate time of announcement.
