Suicide bomber strikes US consulate in Saudi Arabia
A suicide bomber carried out an attack early on Monday near US consulate in Saudi Arabia’s second city of Jeddah.
The attacker had reportedly parked his car outside a mosque opposite to the consulate and shortly after that he detonated the device, killing himself and injuring three security men on duty.
No consulate employee was hurt in the attack, one of the workers told ABC News. The area has been closed off and security forces are at the scene of the incident. So far no terrorist group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
In 2004, a terrorist attack at Jeddah consulate killed nine people. Three of the attackers were killed in the assault and two were captured.
