One of India’s biggest box office hit ‘Baahubali: The Beginning’, starring Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Tamannah Bhatia and Ramya Krishna released in China across 6,000 screens on Friday. The T.S Rajamouli film earlier bagged awards including The Best Feature Film at the 63rd National Awards this year.
The movie is being premierd in various cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Nanjing, Shenzhen and many more. Actor Prabhas said, “My team has been sharing with me all the feedback to the content that has been released in China and the excitement they have for the film, is so overwhelming. I can’t wait for the audience there to watch the film”.
The cast and crew of the movie ‘Baahubali: The Beginning’, prior to its release travelled to China and interacted with Chinese media. Even members of Chinese press travelled to India and interviewed the director and producers of the film. Subtitles for the film that are being screened in 2D and DMAX formats were being provided by Chinese streaming services.
‘Baahubali: The Beginning’ that was shot originally in Telugu and was later dubbed in Hindi and many other South Indian languages. The movie was 159 minutes long in Indian cinemas but this has been cut short to 129 minutes for the Chinese audience. However we still do not have a clear idea regarding which scenes have been edited. Movie rating has now shown a rapid rise from 7.1 to 7.7 which is even higher than a Jacky Chan movie. This shows the growing market for Indian Films in South East Asian countries.
S.S Rajamouli’s, ‘Baahubali: The Beginning’ is one among many Indian movies that have been released in China. Earlier Shah Rukh Khan’s “Happy New Year”(2014) and Aamir Khan’s “PK” (2014), had opened in several screen a few months after its initial release in India.
Director S. Rajamouli and lead actor Prabhas are now busy with the shoots of its second part, ‘Baahubali: The conclusion’, which is currently ongoing at the Ramoji Film City .
