In a short 12-minute speech in Lok Sabha on price rise, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the issue of rising prices, saying “the PM talks about everything but price rise”.
In the past, Rahul had taken a dig at the government terming it ‘suit boot ki sarkaar’, ‘fair and lovely’ etc. Hence there was curiosity as to what dig will he take on the Modi government this time.
“The Modi government celebrated its second happy birthday a few days back. While addressing the people, he spoke about Make In India, Connect India, Digital India, but he did not talk about price rise. Not once did he talk about pulses, potatoes and tomatoes,” he said in the Lok Sabha.
Rahul Gandhi said that price rise is the most important issue before people and false promises cannot be made on it. He also claimed that in the villages there is a new slogan – arhar modi, arhar modi, in an apparent reference to the rise in the prices of pulses.
“You can make false claims on Startup India, Make in India, but not on rising prices,” he added.
Famous for his goof-ups, Rahul Gandhi surprised all by his speech in Parliament and left critics wondering. His speech even brought out smiles from Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Piyush Goyal.
