'Rustom' Akshay Kumar on being Parsi Naval officer

The actor says he envies people who wear a uniform as that has brought about a change in his personality

Actor Akshay Kumar, who will be seen next on the big screen essaying the role of a naval officer for his upcoming film 'Rustom', said that he used his Parsi manager and school friend as a reference point to ace the ‘Parsi’ character.

“I have a Parsi manager, she is the reference point. In school, there was a guy named Rustom. We used to call him Dodo. I know Parsis very well. I can speak a little bit of the language. The only thing I did was copy my manager’s father’s moustache.”

The actor also said that he envies people who wear uniform as that has brought about a change in his personality.

“When I’m getting ready, I wear my navy trousers and a banyan. But when I wore the uniform with the badges and cap included, my walk completely changed. I started gliding. There is something about uniforms that give you a certain kind of responsibility that tells you, “You are the man, you take the charge, you do everything.”
He further added that his walk has changed and hence he started the contest selfie with a uniform.
“When you see the movie, you will see that my walk has changed while I’m entering the courtroom or anything. So I envy people who wear uniforms. That’s why I also did the contest that whenever you see a guy in a uniform, take a selfie.”

Although the actor didn’t prepare for his role as a Navy officer, but he had a Navy officer on board guiding him throughout the film.

“I didn’t specially sit down and take books and start learning the rules and regulations. But there was one Naval officer who was guiding me throughout how the salute is, how the badges are to be worn and how the uniform should be.”

The actor will be seen next in 'Robot' and will complete shooting for the film in 15 days. Apart from this, he will also be seen in 'Jolly LLB 2' as a lawyer, a character that he hasn’t played before.

'Rustom', which also stars Ileana D'Cruz and Esha Gupta, will release on August 12.
