The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has issued a whip asking all its members to be present in the Lok Sabha on Monday, signalling that the ruling government may table the amended Goods and Services Tax (GST) Bill again in the Lower House then.
“The party whip has been issued for our MPs to be present in the House on Monday, August 8. The GST Bill is likely to be taken up for consideration,” IANS reported quoting a party source.
The Rajya Sabha had on Wednesday unanimously passed the Bill with amendments to enable consensus on the measure.
The Bill, which had previously been passed by the Lok Sabha, will now go back to the Lower House, where it is likely to get the nod easily as the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has adequate numbers.
