Alpha-Lipoic Acid is a fatty acid produced by our body for energy production and to maintain body metabolism. Curcumin is a component found in turmeric and provides several health benefits. It helps to reduce inflammation associated with diabetes, heart diseases, inflammatory bowel diseases, cancer and also osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Curcumin when consumed alone is poorly absorbed, but when consumed with piperine, found in black pepper absorption rate increases by as much as 2,000%. If taken in recommended dosage ( 100–500 mg daily), no side effects. It is not recommended for pregnant women.
Omega – 3 is a vital component for health. Fish oil supplements are rich in this fatty acid. Two most beneficial types of omega-3s are eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). Fish oils supplements which are rich in omega – 3 can decrease inflammation associated with diabetes, heart disease, cancer, and many other health conditions. Recommended dosage is 1–1.5 grams of omega-3s from EPA and DHA per day. If taken a higher dosage, fish oil can make your blood thinner and this can increase bleeding.
Two major components of ginger i.e gingerol and zingerone, helps reduce inflammation linked to colitis, kidney damage, diabetes, and breast cancer. It also helps reduce inflammation and muscle soreness after exercise. If taken at recommended dosage (1 gram daily, but up to 2 grams is considered safe), then there is no chance of potential side effects.
Spirulina is a type of blue-green algae that has some strong antioxidant properties. It reduces inflammation, leads to healthy ageing and also strengthens the immune system. The antioxidant nature of spirulina reduces inflammation. It is not recommended for people with immune system disorders and those who are allergic to spirulina or any form of algae.
