August 13 is celebrated annually worldwide as International Left-Handers Day. This day 10 – 30% of the Worlds population i.e left handed population get a chance to blow their own trumpets.

Left handers are also called ‘southpaws’ this term was coined in baseball to describe a left-handed pitcher. There’s a place called ‘Left-Hand’ in Virginia, US. Here is an interesting thing, figures have shown that five out of past seven US Presidents are left handers and they are Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama.

Left handed men may make more money

Here is an interesting fact about men who are left handed. Studies have shown that left handed men who are University graduates make 13% more money than their right handed friends. On the other hand, when it comes to women, left handed women make 5% lesser than their right handed counterparts. For example US billionaire philanthropist Bill Gates is a left hander.

Most famous people are left handers

Studies shows that most famous people around the world belong to the left handed community. The US President Barack Obama, the Mona Lisa painter Leonardo Da Vinci, Drew Barrymore, Tom Cruise, Angelina Jolie,James Cameron are examples for few famous personalities who are left handers.

They are good intellectuals and are mostly good at activities like sports, arts, music and other cultural fields. The famous sportsman Rafael Nadal is a left hander. A New York based study has found that there are more number of left-handed people with IQ’s over 140 than right-handers.
