Photos: Who walked for whom at Lakmé Fashion Week 2016
At this year’s Lakmé Fashion Week, many B-town celebrities walked the ramp in some remarkably gorgeous outfits, designed by the crème de la crème of the Indian fashion industry. Here are the celebrities who became the jewels to this fashion show and bedazzled the event.
Let’s begins with the new faces that wore Manish Malhotra and rocked the outfit, Sushant Singh Rajput and Shraddha Kapoor.
While Sushant Singh Rajput effortlessly managed to pull of the “Rajput” look, Shraddha’s urban-traditional Manish Malhotra was quirky and elegant, all at once. As she swirled before the paparazzi to flaunt her look, Shraddha’s grace and smile added oomph to her look.
These young sizzlers were not the only celebrities who walked the stage for Manish Malhotra, Jacqueline Fernandez and Arjun Kapoor, too, worked their magic draped in this fashion designer’s latest designs.
Here is something not a lot of us knew, all these stars walking for Manish Malhotra, but he wasn’t even planning on participating in the shows this year. Yes, that’s right! Manish Malhotra has decided on taking a break from Lakmé Fashion Week. However, the organisers of this extravagant fashion show, in collaboration with Etihad Airways, had insisted that Manish take part in the event. In and interview, he said: “This year I was thinking of taking a break from Lakme Fashion Week as there are too many wedding orders and expansion plans. But then they came up with this idea of India’s first virtual reality show. It’s a fashion forward and I couldn’t say no.”
The list of stars doesn’t just end at these Bollywood celebrities, neither does the list of designers end at Manish Malhotra. How can we forget, Kangana Ranaut walking in Tarun Tahiliani’s black and red creation, being her own paparazzi as she indulges herself into taking selfies. It was not a sight that has been witnessed before.
Kareena Kapoor Khan and Sonakshi Sinha in their blue shades of lehengas looked as bold as ever. While Kareena wore Rohit Bal, Sonakshi posed in Anita Dongre’s design. Surly, the baby on the way couldn’t keep to-be-mommy Kareena from the glamorous show.
This year, the show broke some age-old stereotypes by inviting Piya Tu dancer Helen, transgender rights activist Laxmi Naryan Tripati, comedian Bharti Singh and actress Sunny Leone, to grace the stage with their beauty and talent.
Lisa Haydon in a blinding gold bodycon gown by Monica Jaising and Ileana Dcruz in her jade blue and white gown by Rahul Mishra were also a sight to watch at the 2016 Lakme Fashion Week.
