Paper mill blast in Punjab's Malerkotla leaves 3 dead, injures 19

A blast inside a paper mill at Malerkotla in Sangrur district of Punjab on Monday killed at least three workers and injured 21 others.
The injured workers were rushed to the hospital as fire service personnel try to douse the fire. Factory worker and truck operator joined the rescue.
Malerkotla Sub-Divisional Officer and police officials visited the blast site and inspected to take stock of the situation.
The blast occurred due to high steam pressure, resulting in explosion of a raw paper drying cylinder, media reported.
Two workers, Mannu Kumar and Narinder Kumar, died on the spot, while another Prem Kumar died on way to a Ludhiana hospital, HT reported.
Other workers Shameem Ahmed, Sabar, Lokinder Singh, Salam Din, Rasit Alam, Pankaj Kumar, Ranvir Singh, were seriously injured, reported TOI.
