Saying that his services to the state will be remembered, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday condoled the death of former Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Kalikho Pul.
“My thoughts are with the family and supporters of Kalikho Pul on his sad demise. His service to Arunachal Pradesh will be remembered,” the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said in tweet.
Congress President Sonia Gandhi also expressed shock over the suicide of former Pul.
Extending her condolences to the family of Pul, Gandhi said: “I pray for the peace of the departed soul.”
Pul, 47, was found hanging from a ceiling fan at his residence in Itanagar.
No suicide note was found from Pul’s residence, news agency ANI reported quoting Union home ministry sources.
Pul was the chief minister from February to July 2016 after the state was put under President’s Rule.
Pul assumed office on February 19, unseating then Chief Minister Nabam Tuki and held the post till July 13.
The Supreme Court last month intervened and reinstated the Congress government led by Nabam Tuki headed the government and dismissed the Pul-led government backed by the BJP and Congress rebels.
Tuki later on stepped down to pave way for Prema Khandu to become the Chief Minister of the Congress government.
