The controversial suit which PM Narendra Modi wore when US President Barack Obama visited New Delhi has been included in the Guinness World Records for being most expensive suit sold.
The outfit with PM Modi’s name embroidered into the pinstripes was later auctioned for Rs 43.131 crore. The money was assigned for the Prime Minister’s campaign to clean the River Ganga.
The suit was bought by Surat diamond baron and private airline owner Laljibhai Patel.
Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, in many event, took jibe at the PM, saying he failed to deliver on his much promise of bringing black money back he wore a “suit worth Rs 10 lakh”.
The pinstripe suit had triggered debate in the social media for a long time. The suit was auctioned along with over 400 other gifts PM Modi has received since becoming Prime Minister.
