Sachin Tendulkar gifts BMW cars to PV Sindhu, P Gopichand, Sakshi Malik

Sachin Tendulkar presented BMW cars to Rio Olympic heroes Sakshi Malik, Dipa Karmakar, PV Sindhu and her coach Pullela Gopichand at a function in Hyderabad on Sunday.

Sachin Tendulkar gifted BMW cars to Rio Olympics 2016 silver medalist PV Sindhu, bronze medalist Sakshi Malik, badminton coach Pullela Gopichand and gymnast Dipa Karmakar, at a function in Hyderabad on Sunday.

Tendulkar who was the good will ambassador of India at the Olympics, said that he is proud of the achievement of the star trio.

“I am proud to stand beside these sports persons. They have brought laurels to the country,” he said.

“We have supported them wholeheartedly. We prayed for them, blessed them. These are the things that an athlete looks forward to. This is a wonderful moment for Indian sports. Their journey begins here and I hope it will only be better as the time goes.”

“You have all done the entire country proud. We all know how focused you were in the run-up to the Olympics and even in Rio.”

He added, “Now is the time to go for gold in the next Olympics and we are all with you to see many more wonderful moments in your career. Keep going and keep winning medals.”

Sachin told Gopichand who coached P.V Sindhu,“You are wonderful.” He also added, “Always showing that urge to produce champions. [You’ve] shown great qualities as a coach. You’re a role model for all and wish you many more laurels. Everyone looked up to you.”

Sakshi who bagged a bronze in women’s freestyle 58kg class at the occasion thanked all those who showed love and affection to her and promised that she would bring a gold from Tokyo Olympics in 2020.

“I am grateful to JSW, Railways, Sachin Sir for all their best wishes,” she said. She also added that her brother is a big fan of Sachin and they wanted to take a selfie with him.

Dipa Karmakar in a short speech thanked every one for their support and encouragement.

Sindhu said, “My dream has come true and I thank all and especially Gopi Sir,” she also added, “Definitely, I will try my best to keep winning laurels at the highest level.” She also thanked Sachin, “I was promised by Sachin sir earlier that if I get a medal at the Olympics, he will gift me a BMW car. He kept his promised today, Thank you sir,”

Gopichand, congratulating the athletes said, “You have made the entire nation proud with your fantastic efforts and wish you many more successes at the highest level.”

Hyderabad District Badminton Association president Chamundeshwarnath gifted the luxury cars to them for their outstanding achievement at the Olympic Games 2016 in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. Sachin Tendulkar handed over the keys at a function at Gopichand Badminton Academy on Sunday.
