P.V. Sindhu gets Silver for India at Rio Olympics
Shuttler P.V. Sindhu on Friday became the first Indian woman to win a Olympic Silver medal and the fifth woman Olympic medalist for India. Even though she took the opening game against World No. 1 Carolina Marin 21-19 in her quest for Gold, she couldn’t sustain it with the next two games at the Riocentro Pavilion on Friday.
However, through the one hour and 20 minutes match, she won hearts for her beautiful display in the much-awaited women’s singles in Rio Olympics. The final scoreline read 21-19 12-21 15-21.
With this win, the 21-year-old lanky Hyderabadi has joined shooters Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Vijay Kumar and wrestler Sushil Kumar to win the Olympic Silver for India.
