A senior ISIS spokesman and strategist Abu Mohammed al-Adnani has been killed in the northern Syrian town of Aleppo on Tuesday.
According to the ISIS statement, al-Adnani was killed while monitoring the group’s military operations in the northern countryside of Aleppo.
“Shaykh Abu Muhammad al-Adnani, the spokesman of the Islamic State, was martyred while surveying the operations to repel the military campaign against Aleppo,” group’s media arm, the Amaq agency reported. However, no details on how he died have emerged yet.
Adnani was believed to be the second most important leader of ISIS, after Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. The U.S. State Department in 2015 offered a $5 million reward for any information that led to him.
