A fire broke out at a government hospital in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district, killing at least two people on Saturday. Several people were also injured in the incident.
Many patients, who were under treatment at the hospital, broke window and escape from the fire.
Two fire tenders have rushed to the site and douse the fire. “Two causalities were reported. Fire has been brought under control. There is no need for panic”, Chief Medical Officer of Behrampur Medical College, S Saha said, reports NDTV.
Fire service official took around three hours to contained the fire. Following the incident many patient are seen lying outside the hospital with thier attendants holding saline bottles.
According to the report, the fire broke out at around noon at the medicine department of the third floor of a building apparently from an air conditioner short circuit.
West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has ordered an investigation into the reasons behind the incident.
