The executive produce of the show, Julie Plec has personally stepped out in the public and said that Nina Dobrev will be making a comeback for the 8th season of the television series The Vampire Diaries. Although, Ian Somerhalder, may not be up for the idea as he had announced at Comic-Com 2016 held in San Diego, that there will be no returning characters in the show, but he was cut-off by Pelc who then declared the return of Elena Gilber.
On the other had, the chief of CW, Mark Pedowitz, expresses “There are discussions going on with Nina. We’d love to have Nina back. She was great for The CW. She was integral for The Vampire Diaries.”
He also told E! Online that it was a collective decision conveying “We backed Julie Plec in her decision…there are discussions going on with Nina, we’d love to have her back…These are discussions that go on, hopefully, she’ll be back, but should it not work out, Julie has planned out a great series finale for fans”.
The team believes that season 8, which is going to be the final season of the The Vampire Diaries is going to be incomplete without Nina, who has played an essential character of Elena and Delena. Although, the team has already proposed Nina and they are currently in talks, Mark Pedowitz, has also said that should Nina decide otherwise, Pelc has a great ending in mind for the show.”
Not sure if Ian and his wife, Nikki Reed is as amused of the news as everybody else, considering the rivalry they have had in the past. It surely, isn’t going to be a good time for the couple. This may just lead to Ian having to choose between the show and his personal life, in the midst of divorce rumours, Nina’s return may cause permanent damage to their wedding.
Nina Dobrev is not the only one who is going to be returning for the final season, as reported by Design and Stlye, Tristin Mays who plays the character of Sarah Salvatore will also make the final appearance in season 8.
TVD season 8 premier will air on CW on 21 October 2016, at 8pm E.T.
