Do you feel sluggish and even bloated by mid-noon? Well, most of us do. But what most of us do not know is that this feeling is not only due to loss of energy, but also due to excess of toxin formation in the body. What you need to do to feel energetic throughout the day is to consume a detox drink early in the morning, before having anything else.

Detox drinks are simple to make, and the detoxifying agents are present in your kitchen shelves and refrigerator. Yes, you read it right. A number of fruits, vegetables and herbs stimulate detoxification while providing vitamins and minerals that keep the body fit and fine.

1. Fenugreek (Methi) seeds drink



Put one teaspoon of methi seeds in a glass of water and keep it overnight. Drink it first thing in the morning. Fenugreek is rich in fibre and anti-oxidants and helps flush out toxins from the body

2. Cinnamon and cumin drink
Put one teaspoon each of cinnamon and cumin powder in a glass of water. Keep it overnight and drink it in the morning. Cinnamon has powerful anti-bacterial properties and helps against e-coli and other infections of stomach. Cumin stimulates the formation of pancreatic juice and thus aids in digestion and detoxification.

3. Aloe vera drink
Aloe vera is a magic plant. Its gel helps treat headaches, skin infections, gastric pain, psoriasis and certain bowel diseases, including ulcerative colitis. And it makes for one of the best detox drinks.
To make the aloe vera drink, mix the juice of one lemon into fresh aloe vera gel, and mix it in a blender until it forms a smooth juice. Refrigerate this mixture for about three hours, and then drink portions of it several times a day over a few days.

4. Salt water
Mix 1 tablespoon of sea salt into 1 glass of drinking water. Boil the mixture, and drink the solution either warm or cold. In addition to detoxifying the stomach, this drink also helps in weight loss and reduces the craving for unhealthy food.

5. Cucumber drink
A number of detox drinks can be made by using cucumber.

Take a teaspoon of ground ginger, a medium size lemon cut into thin slices, 12 leaves of peppermint and a thinly sliced fresh cucumber and put all these into eight glasses of water in a container. Keep it overnight. Drink this entire water through the next day.
Cucumber is an anti-inflammatory and hydration aid, ginger acts as a digestive and cleansing aid,
mint leaves add sweetness, and the lemons act as a powerful cleansing and alkalizing agent.

Detox drinks with cucumber could made by adding strawberries or watermelon pieces to the mixture. This boosts the vitamin count and the anti-inflammatory effects of the drink.

Another home detox recipe is made by adding cucumber, grapefruit and tangerines. For this recipe, mix six pink grapefruit wedges; 1 tangerine, mandarin or small orange; half a sliced cucumber; peppermint leaves; and ice with a half gallon of water. After thoroughly mixing the ingredients, let the drink sit for five minutes and enjoy.

6. Mango pineapple juice


Mixture of fresh mango and pineapple juice is rich in minerals, vitamins and nutrients, which help the body to function properly. The juice also eliminates toxins, especially in the digestive system, and counteracts the negative effects of free radicals.

7. Green tea with lemon
A combination of green tea and citrus is rich in fiber and potassium and is particularly effective for people who consume alcoholic beverages. In addition to detoxifying the body, it also aids metabolism.
