10 Month Old Baby Girl Raped in Delhi by 38-Year-old Man, critical
The rapist signed himself to become a part of the search team and pretended to look for the body of the 10 month old baby girl he has rapped and left behind in the bushes
A 10 month old baby girl born to a poor couple from Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh has been raped in the capital on Friday. According to reports, the accused, Vijay from Bihar had sneaked into the hut when the parents were asleep and abducted the baby at 10 pm. The 38 year old accused, is reported to be their neighbour.
Thinking that the baby was dead he left the body in the jungle, behind the bushes. Later, when the mother of the baby realised that her daughter was missing, she started to frantically search for her and reported the matter to the police. Three police constables were put in-charge of finding the baby girl. When the police reached the site and formed a search party, the rapist himself volunteered to become a part of the search party, so as to seem innocent.
The parents of the victim shifted to Delhi 3-4 months back and worked as labourers. They resided in a slum in the South Delhi area of Vikaspuri.
The baby's body was found in the bushes at 12:30 am, where Vijay had abandoned her. She was immediately rushed to the DDU Hospital and is currently undergoing treatment.
The accused, Vijay, has been taken under arrest and is being charged with section 376 IPC and other sections of POCSO which are relevant to the case. "“During questioning, the accused confessed to his crime. The accused hails from Bihar. We have lodged a case of rape and under sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against him." JCP Pathak said.
Reports suggest that a mobile phone had been found near the body of the baby girl. When inquired, people of the shanties informed that the phone belonged to Vijay. The child was found in a critical condition and she was heard crying. However, she is in a better condition as of now.
Pathak conveyed his disappointment saying it was disgraceful that the assault took place within the area of the police unit. On Saturday, Swati Maliwal, Delhi Commission for Women Chief visited the victim at DDU Hospital and conveyed her grief on social media. "Woke up to another brutal rape in the Capital. This time of a 1 year old. Horrific. Rushing to the hospital to see her. Raped girl is 1 year old baby. Couldn't dare to look at her face. Been operated upon. Can't imagine her suffering. Parents are poor labourers," she expressed.
