4 diet tips to help beat constipation
Here are some diet tips that can help you to beat constipation and improve bowel movement.
For most of us, the day begins with a glass of warm water or tea and then a trip or two to the bathroom. But sometimes, the routine fails. The culprit could be travel, being in a different time zone, diet, or maybe you’ve just got a nervous stomach. And that ruins the day, leading to mood swings, anger, headache etc.
Here are some diet tips that can help you to get yourself to go everyday without fail:
Foods containing fibre is an excellent remedy to have a clean stomach. Fibre content in food helps in muscular contractions of the intestine (peristalsis) that helps the food to move through the intestines smoothly. Legumes like beans, lentils and dried beans is good. Veggies like broccoli, brussels sprouts, potato, carrot etc., are also good sources of fibre. Citrus fruits, apple, pear also contain good amount of fibre.
2) Raw vegetables
Including raw vegetables in your diet is a very good method to have a good digestion. The reason is that raw vegetables contains enzymes that help clean the large intestine, if at all it contains any undigested food particles. Cooking veggies just destroys the useful enzymes contained in it.The enzymes present in the stomach as well as in the raw veggies help to clear the stomach. As a person gets older, the digestive enzymes present in the stomach tend to work slow and so it is ideal to include raw veggies in the diet to utilise the full power of the enzymes contained in them.
Yogurt containing probiotics is also good to have a clean stomach. It contains beneficial bacteria that help to flush out bacteria from intestines. These bacteria also help in breaking down a soluble fibre named inulin that is present in beans and flax seeds so that it is easily absorbed by the body. So including yogurt in our diet is a good choice.
Drinking plenty of water is a right choice to have a clean stomach. Drinking one or two glasses of warm water in the morning is also beneficial. The fibre in foods that we eat absorb the water that we drink. If we don't supply our body with sufficient amount of water , then it may lead to constipation. So always remember to keep your body hydrated with lots of water.
