Irregular period is a health issue causing infrequent periods with intervals of more than 35 days. It is medically known as oligomenorrhea. Menstrual cycle normally ranges from 21 to 35 days with a bleeding generally lasting for two to seven days. In normal cases a women gets 11 to 13 periods in a year, but those facing oligomenorrhea have fewer than six or seven periods in a year. This occurs with variations in time between each of your periods, the number of days your periods last and an abnormal loss of blood during periods. Eating green papaya is one of the best known home remedy for treating irregular periods as this can help you normalize irregular periods. It works as emmenagogue and helps in contraction of muscles fibbers of your uterus and is beneficial for delayed periods which is associated with menopause. Avoid eating unripe or green papaya while having periods, this should be taken before the menstrual cycle.
Turmeric is a warming herb, and helps in regulating menstruation cycle and helps in balancing hormones too. It is rich in anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic properties, thus it is effective in relieving menstrual pain. Mix one-quarter teaspoon of turmeric with jaggery, honey or milk and have it every day for several weeks.
Aloe Vera is another effective home remedy for irregular periods. This can boost the production of hormones which are responsible for menstruation and also helps to get regular menstrual cycle. The aloe Vera gel can also be mixed with 1 tbsp. of honey and have this mixture everyday before breakfast. Keep having this for at least three months to get good results. And don't take this while having your periods.
Fruit and Vegetable Juices
Fruit and vegetable juices also help in boosting menstrual cycle. Grape and carrot juices are the best remedy for irregular periods. You can try aloe vera juice too if the menstruation cycle has been delayed for long.
Parsley is very useful when it comes to treating irregular menstruation and other menstruation related issues. It is considered as one of the most effective homemade remedy for the same. Parsley juice should be consumed on a regular basis, as a medicine to have periods at regular intervals.
