Bomb scare: Caller threatens to blow up Air India flight at Kolkata Airport
The threat call said that a bomb had been planted on board a Guwahati-bound Air India aircraft from Kolkata
The Kolkata airport authorities on Tuesday received a bomb threat call, in which the caller threatened to 'blow up' an Air India flight bound for Gauhati.
As per media reports, the Netaji Subhas Chandra International Airport received the call at around 8 am, following which a bomb squad was called in.
The caller reportedly told official that a bomb has been planted on board Guwahati-bound Air India 729 flight.
Reacting swiftly to the call, the boarding to the plane was suspended and it was taken to an isolated area for investigation. All the passengers on board the aircraft have been evacuated and a search operation has been initiated by the CISF and airport authorities.
"We have evacuated the aircraft and now it has been taken to the isolation bay, where search operation is being carried out. Till now, we have not been able to find anything on board the aircraft," said a senior official of the CISF was quoted as saying by DNA.
