BSNL to offer unlimited 2Mbps broadband at Rs 249 per month

In the wake of the Reliance’s Jio offer, Government run BSNL has come with an attractive offer of unlimited 2Mbps wireless broadband at only Rs 249 per month. Users can download upto 300 GB in month having a broadband speed by paying a monthly rate of only Rs. 249.

According to a statement by BSNL on Friday, it has declared its plans to come up with a promotional offer to
strengthening its broadband base by providing users an unlimited broadband plan.

Reportedly, the state sector company made the decision to challenge the offer by Reliance JIO, which has declared a data plan of 1GB 4G only at Rs. 50.

After the Jio offer, which is making price wars by other private players in the telecom sector, BSNL is also deicded to cash in the the market by wooing more customers by offering attractive tariff rate.

BSNL stated on Friday that the new scheme will start operational from September 9, 2016. Anupam Shrivastava, the Chairman cum Managing Director of BSNL Corporation, stated in a press conference that the new scheme will aim for improving the quality and satisfaction of the users for BSNL’s broadband wireline and also to attract more customers to its network.

BSNL said, it has inked an MoU with Telecom Department to complete its targets.
Earlier, Reliance has offered free voice calling in Jio in India. The scheme was launched amid much fanware by the group’s owner Mukesh Ambani.

He told that Jio told shareholders Jio will be free for all calls or roaming within country. He also claimed that it is offering the cheapest data fare in the entire world.

The offer will be effective until December 2016, and will be available in about ten plans beginning at Rs 149 rupees a month.

“The era of paying for voice calls is ending,” said Mukesh Ambani.¬†Competitors like Airtel reduced tariffs for their schemes by as much as 67 per cent, said sources and come up with 4G, services, following the launch of Jio.
