She plays as Cookie Lyon on her hit show Empire. But when it comes to love, Taraji P. Henson,45, has displayed her softest side while talking about her love life in the Redbook magazine of October issue.
Taraji explains that her actual reasons for holding out was for the sake of her son who could witness, ‘real kind of love.’
She said the publication, “If I was going to get married, it had to be for love, because I wanted Marcell to see that real kind of love – the kind I yearn for. That old couple crooked and bent over but still holding hands, I know that kind of love exists and I’m not going to stop until I have that.”
In her memoir Around the Way Girl – love life of Taraji will be discussed in detail. It is book which is written by her to build up her fans. Her personal story is about success and hardship as well during 1997. That was when she ha arrived in Los Angeles with few prospects, $700 in pockets and her toddler that was a toss to fulfil her dream of becoming an actress.
“God didn’t give me anything more than he gave anyone else,” she shares. “We’re all born with a deck of cards and no instructions on how to play them. All God gave us was choice. You can choose to wake up sad or to wake up happy. I chose not to live in fear and to make the best of my life. You can’t put your happiness into anybody’s hands but your own.”
This Oscar-nominated actress who is a mother to her son, Marcell Johnson, 22, whose father is her beloved high school sweetheart William Lamar Johnson. Unfortunately, he was murdered in 2003.
