The ongoing family feud within the Yadav Pariwar has now made Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav stronger in the eyes of the people. He has not only become the first choice as Chief Minister vis-à-vis Mulayam Singh Yadav, he is also a big hit among Muslims and Yadav – the core vote bank of Samajwadi party.
These facts came to light in a survey carried out by C-voter and appeared in a Hindi newspaper on Sunday. The survey was carried out in all the 403 constituencies of Uttar Pradesh and over 11,000 people were asked questions about the feud in the family and its impact on Akhilesh, Mulayam, and Shivpal Singh Yadav.
The survey says that over 70 per cent Yadavs want Akhilesh Yadav as the next Chief Minister while only 25 per cent want to see Mulayam Singh Yadav as CM. Similarly, among the Muslims, a whopping 75 percent support Akhilesh as next Chief Minister while just 19 percent say Mulayam Singh Yadav should take the rein of the government and the party should project its patriarch as next CM.
Among the questions asked in the survey was who was more popular among the Yadav clan – Akhilesh or Shivpal Singh and here too `Bhatija’ is head and shoulder above his `Chacha’ as Akhilesh marches ahead with 77 percent votes in favour while just 7 percent people said yes for Shivpal. Incidentally, among the SP supporters, as much as 88 per cent people preferred Akhilesh to his Chacha. Asked who would be better CM – Akhilesh Yadav or Mulayam Singh, over 66 percent people voted in favour of Akhilesh and just 19 percent voted for Mulayam
To another question whether Akhilesh Yadav was trying rid SP of criminal elements, over 38 per cent respondent said he tried but failed to succeed while 24 percent said his efforts have started showing results. Another 24 percent people said this is a poll issue.
