Smile more often…? and, that too with Diabetes….? Quite Unexpected and unanticipated… isn’t it? The answer lies in the growing number of Diabetes cases, and Doctors’ explanation of it as a Life style related disease and, a stress related disease along with a genetic disorder.
It has been found in related researches and studies, that among various other factors that may result in as the causes of Diabetes, stress and anxiety play a major role in worsening a patient’s condition. If we remain under stress for a long period, it increases the possibility of a rise in the
Blood Sugar Level in the body.
According to the doctors, “Diabetes can be a bad news, and in this fast-paced life-style, it may lead a diabetic patient to anxiety and further into depression due to its long Control Management Planning Process. But, that may worsen the situation because when you are depressed or stressed, your blood sugar level is more likely to go up.”
When our fears get so big that we feel helpless and hopeless, it’s time to take action. Diabetes is a serious problem, and it can be even more serious when we have depression. And when we’re anxious, we may not manage our diabetes well. We may forget to exercise, eat right, or take our prescribed drugs. In today’s fast-paced life, people don’t get time even to sleep adequately. There is no focus on health or exercise. They tend to get overweight. They would leave home at 6 in the morning, and come back at 10 in the night, completely focussed to meet their job targets, deadlines and work pressures. They don’t get time to eat proper food. To satisfy their hunger pangs, they indulge in fast food and junk food. This work related anxiety, stress and life style can lead to Diabetes.
According to specialists, “Stress can boost your blood pressure and blood sugar. Some people don’t do anything for it. Some turn to food to cope with it. STOP THAT…. It’s time to find ways to relieve stress — through deep breathing, yoga, or hobbies that relax you. If you’re not moving, START. Exercise in any form. If you don’t wish to join a gym and do cross-training, JUST WALK…!! Practice relaxation techniques like deep breathing or meditation. Talking to a friend, family member, counsellor, or a religious leader could help. If you can’t beat it, reach out to your doctor That will not only release stress from your body, but also result in relaxation, and further, happiness…. which automatically will help normalizing your Blood Sugar level.”
Adequate Sleep and a good Laughter reduce the level of stress hormones. They increase the level of health-enhancing hormones. Laughing increases your oxygen consumption with an added bonus of relaxation. A good measure of laughter combats depression as well as anxiety, and help in Diabetes treatment.
One of the most surprising things about type 2 diabetes is that you can avoid it. To lower your risk, follow these guidelines for warding off complications:
Eat a healthy diet.
Exercise for 30 minutes, 5 days a week.
Deep Breath or Meditate.
Forgive and Forget. It works.
Stay at a healthy weight.
Have an adequate Sleep.
Laugh out loud.
Talk to your loved ones and friends.
Follow hobbies that relax you.
Talk to your doctor about being tested for prediabetes.
People with prediabetes can avoid getting diabetes with lifestyle changes and medication.
Looking at the increasing numbers of Diabetes cases here, it is very likely that India will be called Diabetes Capital of the world soon. increasing anxiety level causes overweight and change in eating Habits. It can be a major factor which leads to diabetes. Anxiety raises stress hormones, hence control in anxiety is a must. If anxiety is controlled, it will help in controlling diabetes.
So…. Smile more often… because we can definitely lead a long, healthy and a Happy life with a positive attitude and an optimistic mindset, even with Diabetes. A proper medical supervision should be followed. Avoid interaction with people with a negative mind-set as they might put you under depression due to their negative and pessimistic approach. We just have to start loving and caring ourselves too because it is now proved that, the more we are happy and positive, the more we are healthy.
