Already under pressure to ensure a safe passage of the festive season, the law enforcement agencies went into a huddle after an Intelligence Bureau (IB) advisory on the intrusion of four ultras to create unrest in communally-polarised west UP.
“The Saharanpur police carried out massive search operations all through Wednesday after inputs of intrusion of four suspected ultras. Four suspects from a local court were picked up on Wednesday afternoon and they were being quizzed,” confirmed a senior police in Saharanpur.
The IB through an advisory alerted the cops of western UP, particularly Saharanpur, Meerut, and Bareilly ranges, to remain on their toes and keep a close vigil on the movement of terror outfit members.
Meanwhile, ADG (Law and order) Daljeet Choudhary directed officials to review security in all court compounds and beef up security further.
“All Commissioners, District Magistrates, and police chiefs have been directed to ensure patrolling in sensitive places and ask Local Intelligence Units to be alert. As it is, the security apparatus is geared up for the festive season, which has further been beefed up,” said a senior police officer.
Issuing a circular on Tuesday night, the ADG Law and Order asked all SSP/SPs to take all preventive steps on court premises so that untoward incident could be thwarted. He asked officials to check security arrangements personally.
Besides, adequate force deployment in and around courts are to be maintained. Directions have also been given to check crowded places like cinema halls, malls, bus and railway stations with the help of anti-sabotage and bomb disposal squads
