India turned around an early one goal deficit to beat higher ranked Peurto Rico 4-1 in an International friendly at the Andheri Sports Complex in Mumbai on Saturday.
Emmanuel Sanchez had put the visitors into the lead from the spot in the eighth minute after Jackichand Singh brought a Puerto Rican player down in the box but India were quick to responded.
Narayan Das equalised in the 18th minute when a Sunil Chhetri free-kick bounced off the post. Then on 24th minute India took the lead through Sunil Chettri. The Bengaluru FC striker’s free-kick struck the inside of the far post and went in, much to the delight of the home fans.
Chhetri was heavily involved again for India’s third goal. His initial effort was not properly handled by the Peuto Rican goalkeeper and Jeje was the spot to turn it in. Then, Jackichand Singh in the 58th minute increased the lead to make it a comfortable win for India.
