Kashmir issue: Government to curtail facilities to separatists

Officials pointed out that a lot of government money is wasted in maintaining the ‘extravagant and fully-secured’ lifestyle of these separatist leaders. They have also been provided with a hefty security cover that costs the taxpayers a good deal of cash.

The government is said to be planning to “curtail the facilities” given to separatists, according to official sources who wouldn’t like to be named because they aren’t authorised to speak to the Press. The issue is expected to be sorted out this evening when Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh meets other senior members of the Cabinet along with BJP President Amit Shah.

Officials pointed out that a lot of government money is wasted in maintaining the ‘extravagant and fully-secured’ lifestyle of these separatist leaders. They have also been provided with a hefty security cover that costs the taxpayers a good deal of cash.

Hurriyat Leader Syed Ali Shah has raised the pro- Pakistan slogan again saying he is a Pakistani.

The home minister has already briefed the Prime Minister about the ground situation in the State and the steps he proposes to take to douse the flames of engineered discontent.

Officials said the members of the all-party delegation are likely to meet in New Delhi on Wednesday to discuss their findings and chalk out future plans for the State. Their inputs would be incorporated into the government action plan.
