With Reliance Jio 4G services launch fully today one can port their mobile number to the network easily. There has been a lot of hype surrounding the 4G service offered by Mukesh Ambani's company with a spike in search queries noticed in the recent past. Today onwards, company’s Preview offer that comes with 90 days of free 4G data now works with all 4G-enabled smartphones.
Those wishing to switch to the services of Reliance Jio need to send the following text message - PORT followed by your 10-digit mobile number to TRAI's central number for mobile number portability - 1900. Download the 'MyJio' app from Google's PlayStore (since the SIM can as of now be activated only from a selected list of Android-based mobile handsets) and generate an offer code through the app.
Reliance 4G SIM card is free of cost and you can get it from any Preferred Jio, Reliance Digital Xpress, Reliance Digital Xpress mini, or prominent multi-brand Jio stores with the port out code and your Free Welcome Offer code along with your mobile handset. Users need to submit a copy of any of your identity and address proofs viz. Voter Id Card, Passport, Aadhaar Card along with a couple of passport-sized photographs for obtaining your Jio SIM card.
The new SIM card may take up to 7 days to activate. User will be charged Rs 19. An important thing to know is that those opting for mobile number portability to switch to Reliance will not be able to switch to another network for at least 90 days.
All voice calls for Jio customers will be free for life. Also, the company has dropped roaming charges within India. Reliance Jio 4G services come with an access to free SMS and Jio premium apps.
