National Philatelic Exhibition on Nature at Bhubaneswar on Sept 30
The biggest-ever Philatelic Exhibition on nature and environment, NATUREPEX-2016, will be held for the first time in Orissa’s capital Bhubaneswar on Sept 30.
Mr S.C.Jamir, the Governor of Odisha will inaugurate the exhibition organised with collaboration of India Post and Eastern India Philatelic Association.
It is one of the first occasion, Eastern India has been hosting such a large programme, said Anil Dhir, the Co-ordinator of Naturepex.
The exhibition is being held with the objective of spreading awareness for the protection of nature and conserving the environment. Participation of more than 250 exhibitors will make it a grand exhibit of country’s largest-ever show.
It will cover a large range of environmental related subjects ranging from greenhouse effects, pollution, endangered species, flora and fauna, biological diversity, ecological imbalances etc.
The exhibition will be competitive in nature and medals will be given in the different categories. The Youth Class of Philatelists is being emphasized. Three Special Covers on the theme of Nature and Environment will be released during each day of the Exhibition, and special cancellations will be done. A Carried Cover, sent on horseback will be released. Besides a set of 10 Picture Postcards depicting the varied flora and fauna of Odisha will be released too. More than a hundred participants from outside the State will visit the Exhibition, including stamp and coin dealers from all over the country.
The exhibition will help in popularizing the hobby of Philately for today’s students.
“Philatelists from Odisha have made their mark both in the country and abroad. EIPA has over the years emerged as the Nodal body for the promotion of philately in the State. India Post should hold more District and State level exhibitions in the State, ” said Anil Dhir.
A series of activities like Quiz, Design a Stamp, Letter writing, Rangoli Competition etc. will be conducted among the participating school children.
