Former Delhi lawmaker Sandeep Kumar’s private secretary Praveen Singh was detained on Monday by police after the former AAP minister alleged that he had leaked the “objectionable sex video” that cost him his post.
Sandeep was sacked from the post of Delhi Women and Child Welfare Minister and was arrested last week on rape and other charges following a complaint filed by a woman who purportedly figured in an objectionable CD with him. He was sacked and also suspended from AAP after the scandal came to light.
The woman registered a complaint that around 11 months ago, Sandeep raped her when she had gone to his office in outer Delhi’s Sultanpuri seeking help to obtain a ration card.
However, Sandeep denied that he is in the video and claimed he is being targeted for installing a statue of Dr BR Ambedkar outside his house.
The 36-year-old MLA from Sultanpur Majra said: “Like Eklavya was pulled down, when people from our community rise, some plot is hatched to destroy us.” He also said that “plot was hatched” ever since he installed Dr. Ambedkar’s statue and it was happening because “he is poor and Dalit”.
Meanwhile, Sandeep on Monday was sent to a three-day police remand by Tis Hazari Court in Delhi in connection with the rape case.
