Punjab AAP leaders 'exploiting women' by promising poll tickets: Devinder Sehrawat
However, the AAP leadership has called the allegations so 'absurd and baseless that we do not even want to respond'.
In the latest embarrassment for the Aam Aadmi Party, a Punjab AAP MLA has written a letter to party chief Arvind Kejriwal accusing party representatives in Punjab of “exploiting women in return for election candidature”.
The allegation came soon after the suspension and arrest of AAP MLA Sandeep Kumar, who was accused of raping a woman a year ago.
Recently, the party’s Punjab convenor, Sucha Singh Chhotepur, was sacked from his post following allegations of seeking bribe for party tickets.
In the letter, AAP MLA from Bijwasan Colonel Devinder Sehrawat claimed he had received “disturbing reports” of women being “exploited” in Punjab with promises of election tickets from the party. The claims were, however, refuted by the party.
In reaction to the allegation, AAP leader Sanjay Singh said, “The allegations are so absurd and baseless that we do not even want to respond to those. He has to get proof before talking like that.”
"If someone exploits women for tickets then nothing can be more wrong. If the leadership is not doing anything, then somewhere they are also involved. It is not acceptable that four people will rule the country and the party," Sehrawat wrote, adding, "I appeal to Kejriwal to clear the stand of the party. If someone does this kind of activity, then he should be removed from the party."
Sehrawat also criticised party leader Ashutosh for his views on the sex tape allegedly featuring Sandeep Kumar, who has since been sacked, suspended and also arrested on rape charges.
