Rahul Bhatnagar takes over as UP Chief Secretary
Bhatnagar replaces 1982 batch IAS officer Deepak Singhal as chief secretary
After the sacking of two controversial ministers in Uttar Pradesh, CM Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday appointed Rahul Bhatnagar as new chief secretary of the State.
Yadav on Tuesday replaced Chief Secretary Deepak Singhal with Rahul Bhatnagar, who is also an IAS officer and currently holding principal secretary of Finance.
Rahul Bhatnagar is a 1983-batch IAS officer and has additional charge of sugar industries and cane development department.
Singhal, a 1982-batch IAS officer, had assumed the post of chief secretary recently on July 6. He was earlier principal secretary (irrigation).
The new chief secretary, in a statement issued after his appointment, said: "The chief minister has given me this new responsibility. It will be my endeavour to meet the challenges associated with this responsibility."
"It will be my endeavour to ensure a good future for the people of Uttar Pradesh; that we have good infrastructure in place to ensure the overall development of the state and that we have a good environment to ensure all works in the state are carried out,” he added.
