Rajinikanth’s daughter Soundarya, hubby file for divorce
Tamil superstar Rajinikanth’s daughter Soundarya has filed a divorce petition to end her marriage of six years to Chennai-based industrialist Ashwin Ramkumar.
As per latest reports, Soundarya and Ashwin approached the family court for divorce by mutual consent.
They have a one-year old son Ved.
Rajinikanth’s elder daughter Aishwarya married Tamil actor Dhanush. She is now UN Women’s Advocate for Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment in India.
Soundarya and Ashwin married at a grand function in 2010 that rocked the Tamil film world after a courtship that lasted almost four years, according to media.
However, now the buzz going on in Kollywood is that the couple had serious issues that finally broke their marriage, though no one knows what actually led to the celebrity couple to call it quits.
The reports added that soon after his kidney transplant operation in the US, superstar Rajinikanth stayed with his daughter and tried to intervene in the matter in a last bid to save her marriage.
Reportedly, he told her to find a amicable solution, but it didn’t work at all. Media reports said when they tried to contact him to clarify, he refused, which added to the speculation that the marriage was in doldrums.
Soundarya, the youngest daughter of the Tamil star, ventured into Tamil film industry as a graphic designer and directed India’s first motion capture film, Kochadaiiyaan, starring Rajinikanth himself.
Soundarya is known for her artistic and directorial skills and is reported to have arranged a meeting with Rajini and director Pa Ranjith that led to the creation of his recent blockbuster Kabali. The film is considered one of the largest hits of the Tamil star in recent times.
She has a good fan following in Tamil Nadu for her activism on women rights. The duo’s divorce comes soon after news about the divorce of celebrity couple AL Vijay and actress Amala Paul.
