Sonakshi-starrer 'Akira' rakes in Rs 16.65 crore in box office

A.R. Murugadoss-directed and Sonakshi Sinha-starrer Akira minted the film's best ever amount since its release on Friday. The film bagged Rs 6.20 crore on the third day and has managed to earn Rs 16.65 crore at the box office in the first three days.
The film minted Rs 5.15 crore on day one and Rs 5.30 crore on the second day. Murugadoss had previously directed Sonakshi in the film Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty, which was a box office success.

In the storyline, Akira sees Sonakshi’s character coming to Mumbai from Jodhpur, where she gets into a tiff with the goons of the college she enrolls in.
The backbone of the story is her fight to come out of a case, where the college goons, a corrupt policeman played by Anurag Kashyap and another character played by Konkona Sen Sharma play crucial components.
