Month after kidnap saga, ULFA (I) releases BJP leader's son unharmed
ULFA (I) had earlier released an ISIS-style video of armed militants surrounding the man, asking for a ransom of Rs 1 crore for his release
The United Liberation Front of Assam (I) on Friday released BJP leader Ratneswer Moran’s 27-year-old son Kuldeep, more than a month after kidnapping him, NDTV has reported.
Kuldeep Moran was kidnapped along the Myanmar-Arunachal Pradesh border. Later, the ULFA had released an ISIS-style video of armed militants surrounding the man, asking for a ransom of Rs 1 crore for his release.
In the video, Kuldeep was seen pleading for his life and urging his parents and the state government to get him released. Earlier, the group had also sent a separate message demanding a ransom to Kuldeep’s uncle and BJP MLA Bolin Chetia.
The group, later, denied asking for any ransom. However, it is not clear if any ransom had been paid to get Kuldeep released.
