Uri Attack: Gautam Gambhir

Cricketer Gautam Gambhir faced a backlash in social media from irate fans of India's ODI captain MS Dhoni following his controversial tweets on Armymen who lost their lives in the Uri attack.

His critics alleged Gambhir tried to settle old scores with Dhoni by tweeting: "These 17 martyrs deserv a biopic rather dan any cricketer. No better inspiration dan a young man sacrificing his life 4 his country."

Here is his tweet on Uri martyrs:

Fans of MS Dhoni accused Gambhir of tweeting the post at a time when Bollywood biopic on MS Dhoni, ‘Dhoni : The Untold Story’ is going to be released across India on September 30, 2016.

Hundreds of posts from Dhoni's die-hard fans have targeted Gambhir and are making rounds in the social media.
"The one who contributes to the country is a hero. Be it any cricketer or soldier. Contribution deserves recognition," read one post from a fan.

Following this, Gambhir was forced to come with an explanation for his earlier tweet.
"My detractors got it wrong. Am not against ANY ONE cricketer's biopic, am against d very concept which includes a biopic on my life," he tweeted back.

Gambhir then started tweeting many patriotic posts praising the army men for their courage and valor as if to move away from the MS Dhoni bio pic controversy.
