Luxury car maker Volvo Auto India on Wednesday launched its first P hybrid sports utility vehicle in the country – the XC90 T8 Excellence – priced at ₹1.25 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi). In a statement, the company said this SUV has got 50 bookings till now and will be delivered by the end-year to customers.
“The Excellence is equipped with 360 degrees radar and inputs from camera activate an array of pre-emptive safety functions. It is fitted with a 2.0 litre 4-cylinder petrol engine, it accelerates to 100 kmph in just 5.6 seconds,” the company said.
It added that the feature will help in adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, collision warning with full auto-braking for pedestrians, cyclists, other vehicles and large animals, rear collision warning and park pilot assist.
The XC90 T8 petrol engine is high on power and high fuel efficiency, coupled with low emissions in four seat luxury SUV.
“It is not only a segment-first but India’s first plug-in hybrid SUV and we see a lot of interest from our more affluent customers, who prefer to experience ‘responsible’ luxury,” said Tom von Bonsdorff, Managing Director, Volvo Auto India.
The XC90 T8 Excellence plug-in hybrid powertrain offers three distinct driving modes – Pure, Hybrid, and Power.
The engine is both supercharged and turbocharged and delivers 320hp along with the electric motor delivering 87hp, the collective 407hp and 640 Nm of torque, the company said.
