Age bar lifted for widows, divorcees for UP govt jobs
In a move to provide the much-needed succor to women, the UP government has done away with the upper age limit for widows and divorced women applying for government jobs.
Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav made the announcement at a function held to felicitate women achievers of Lucknow, according to a report in The Times of India.
Regarding the triple talaq debate, Akhilesh said his party was not in favour of interfering with the religious affairs of any community.
He said the BJP was raising such issues with state elections in mind.
“Had the elections been in Bihar, the PM would have gone there to celebrate Dussehra to milk maximum benefit from the Army’s surgical strike,” he reportedly said.
He announced that he would promote women in his party and give them tickets in the Assembly elections.
