IAF ready to take up any challenge: Chief Arup Raha says on 84th Foundation Day

As tensions between Pakistan and India remain active with the neighbouring nation violating ceasefire many times in the aftermath of surgical strikes, Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha on Saturday said the Indian Air Force is prepared to deal with “any challenge” in the “most befitting manner”.

The Indian Air Force celebrated its 84th Foundation Day on Saturday with a scintillating air display at Air Force Station Hindon in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad near Delhi. Army Chief Dalbir Singh and former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar were also present on the occasion.

The Air Force chief, in his message on the official Facebook page of the Indian Air Force, said the force is operating some of the most modern weapons and equipment and the air warriors exercise ceaseless vigil of skies.

“We continue to train to take up any threat and are fully prepared to undertake any challenge in most befitting manner,” the IAF chief said.

The official Facebook page of IAF was launched on Saturday on the 84th Air Force Day.

The Air Force Day is being celebrated across the country to commemorate the day the force was officially established, i.e. on October 8, 1932.

On the occasion, IAF personnel started the air display with flag bearing sky divers of famous AKASH GANGA team dropping out of AN-32 aircraft in their colourful canopies.  The flypast included the vintage aircraft, modern transport aircraft and frontline fighter aircraft.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today extended his greetings on the 84th anniversary of the Air Force Day and thanked the force for protecting skies.

“Saluting all air warriors and their families on the Air Force Day. Thank you for protecting our skies. Your courage makes India proud,” PM Modi said in a tweet.

President Pranab Mukherjee also hailed the Indian Air Force on its anniversary and said in a message that the nation is proud of the capabilities and competency of the IAF as over the last eight decades, it has emerged as an immensely professional and combat-ready force.

He further commended that the IAF has achieved distinction in IAF has achieved distinction in defending India’s skies and delivering vital humanitarian aid an disaster relief.

Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar also greeted the nation today as he tweeted, “Our Air Force plays a vital role in strengthening our national security. I humbly salute its members & their families on the Air Force day.”
