Akhilesh Yadav announces rath yatra
The announcement gave rise to speculation that Akhilesh may also give a miss to the party's silver jubilee celebrations on November 5
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday announced that he would take out a rath yatra in the state from November 3.
The announcement gave rise to speculation that Akhilesh may also give a miss to the party's silver jubilee celebrations on November 5.
In a letter written to party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav, the Chief Minister said all political parties have already begun their campaign for the Assembly polls.
"I had decided to take out the yatra from October 3 but it was cancelled due to some reasons. I will take out the 'Samajwadi Vikas Rath Yatra' from November 3," he said.
The letter made it clear that Akhilesh Yadav was not waiting for others to join the show and will start the campaign on his own.
According to reports, the move is being seen as a protest by the chief minister against Shivpal’s move to sack youth leaders who protested against his appointment as state party chief.
The alleged family feud was triggered by party president Mulayam Singh Yadav appointing Shivpal Yadav, his brother and Akhilesh’s uncle, as the state party chief.
