Akhilesh Yadav axes uncle Shivpal, three other ministers from Cabinet
This move comes at a time when youth faction of the Party openly declared war against the old patriarchs like Shivpal
Adding fresh flares in the ongoing feud inside Samajwadi Party ahead of the Uttar Pradesh polls, Chief Minister Akhilesh, in a bold move, sacked his uncle and minister in SP government, Shivpal Singh Yadav, along with four other ministers from his cabinet on Sunday.
Akhilesh had called a meeting of legislative members at the party office in Lucknow. After meeting with legislators Akhilesh announced the decision to sack Shadab Fatima, Narad Rai, Shivpal Yadav and Om Prakash Singh. Media reports said Shivpal Yadav and his aides were not invited to the meeting.
The move comes at a time when SP’s inner feud are growing out of control and as party supremo, Mulayam Singh Yadav tries to soften the scuffle. Mulayam had met various leaders of the party including his son Akhilesh and Shivpal Yadav to bring peace.
Strifes escalated when Akhilesh Yadav had met the district heads of the party, who had been called by Shivpal Yadav yesterday. Akhilesh first refused to attend the meeting, then called a separate one where he met district heads separately. Akhilesh’s close aide and MLC Udayveer Singh was expelled from the party which created huge ruckus inside factions supporting Akhilesh.
Earlier, Shivpal has announced that Akhilesh would be the Chief Ministerial candidate if the party comes back to power. But Chief Minister refused to comply with the terms set out by his uncle.
The move comes at a time when factions loyal to Akhilesh Yadav had announced to boycott SP’s silver jubilee celebrations in November. The CM had announced to start his Rath Yatra a day earlier of the celebration which was criticized widely.
