BSF jawan killed in cross border shelling in Jammu
A Border Security Force (BSF) soldier was killed and another injured in heavy shelling and firing by Pakistan along International Border in Jammu’s RS Pura sector on Monday morning, Indian Express has reported.
Pakistan troops targeted 13 Border Out Posts (BoP) and civilian areas along International Border in RS Pura, Pargwal and Kanachak in Jammu. According to reports three other people were also injured in the shelling.
The deceased jawan has been identified as head constable Sushil Kumar of Pahova in Kurukshetra district of Haryana and the injured ASI as R D Puri.
Last week BSF troops foiled an infiltration bid in Bobiyan village of Hira Nagar Sector, in which one militant was killed. Pakistani Rangers targeted a BSF post in which BSF Constable Gurnam Singh was critically injured.
Gurnam Singh was hit in the snipper attack in Hiranagar sector along the International Border in Kathua district on Friday night, had died late on Saturday. In retaliation, the Indian Army claimed to have killed seven Pak rangers
There have been multiple ceasefire violations reported along the International Border and Line of Control after India conducted surgical strikes across the border in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir to target staging areas for terrorists last month. Pakistan has denied the cross-border raids.
