Diwali Bonus: Surat boss to gift 1,260 cars, 400 flats, jewellery to employees

The diamond export firm company, owned by Savjibhai Dholakia, will spend an estimated Rs 50 crore under the loyalty programme to reward its employees for meeting company targets

A diamond tycoon in Surat might soon be the most sought-after employer in India, and that too for a good reason.

Savjibhai Dholakia, who runs a diamond export firm in Gujarat, has announced his company would give 1,260 cars, 400 flats and pieces of jewellery to his employees, as Diwali bonus for meeting company targets.

“Our aim is that each employee must have his own home and car in the next five years. So we have decided to gift cars, homes and jewellery to employees,” Dholakia, owner of the Hare Krishna Exports, told a news agency.

He said the rewards were in recognition of the outstanding performance and dedication shown by employees in the last five years.

This is not the first time that he has shown such magnanimity. The company has been offering flats, cars etc as Diwali bonus to employees since 2012. In the first year, he gave cars to three employees.

In 2014, 491 cars and 207 flats were gifted, and this made to the national headlines.

The company will spend an estimated Rs 50 crore under the loyalty programme to reward an unknown number of staff from a total workforce of 5,500.

The company will exclude previous year’s beneficiaries from the new scheme.

His firm is one of the leading polishing companies in diamond hub Surat and exports diamonds to some 75 countries.
