Google Pixel XL and Samsung Galaxy S7 are the two most recent smartphone launches in market. Let’s find out the differences and similarities between these two premium segment smartphones.
Design, looks, display and features
Google Pixel closely resembles like an Apple iPhone on various aspects like its metal unibody, layout of the camera, bottom speakers, and above all having a large top and bottom bezel on its front.
It also has a fingerprint scanner on its back, a USB-C charging port and a 3.5mm audio jack up on its top. It also has a power button and volume rocker.
On the other hand, the Galaxy S7 has a glass-and-metal body, unique to Samsung’s premium design language. It has got metal sides, glass back, and a joint fingerprint scanner/home button duo.
However, both models are same in size. While the Google Pixel is 5.7 by 2.7 by 0.3 inches (HWD) and a weight of 5 ounces; the S7 (5.6 by 2.7 by 0.3 inches) weighs at 5.4 ounces.
A major drawback of the Pixel is it lacks waterproofing, wireless charging, and a microSD card slot.
Samsung S7 has waterproof capabilities and can resist upto 30 minutes under six feet of water. It can aso support wireless charging and can accommodate a microSD card up to 256GB.
Processor and Battery
The Pixel is having a a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor along with 4GB of RAM, it has a 32GB or 128GB of internal storage, while The S7 is having a Snapdragon 820 with 4GB of RAM and an internal storage of 32GB.
S7 is ahead of its rival, Pixel also performs fast under lab conditions.
The S7 is having a 3000mAh battery that can work up to hours. Pixel’s battery is 2,770mAh battery, that can work for longer hours. Both models have fast charging batteries also.
Galaxy S7 is having a 12-megapixel camera. Pixel has a 12.3-megapixel camera.
Software, Support, and Peripherals
The Pixel is operating on Android 7.0 Nougat, but S7 has a Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow and it has plans for updates soon.
so pixel has some advantages as it gives a full Android experience devoid of bloatware, heavy UI layers, carrier pre-installs etc.
Google Pixel has been launched in three colors—Very Silver, Quite Black, and the limited-edition Really Blue and is priced at $649 for its 32GB model. Galaxy model is priced at 670 Dollars.
