As Jayalalithaa’s treatment in Apollo Hospital in Chennai exceeds two weeks, Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy on Sunday visited the private hospital to enquire about the health condition of the Tamil Nadu chief minister.
The Puducherry CM, along with many political leaders visited the hospital even as as special prayers were held for Jayalalithaa’s good health across Tamil Nadu.
His visit came after Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s visit on Friday and Tamil Nadu DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin visit on Saturday. Apollo hospital, in a statement, had said that the Tamil Nadu CM needs a longer stay at the hospital and is on respiratory support.
After visiting the hospital, Narayanasamy said: “I pray to the Almighty that she recovers fully and get back to her routine. I am fully confident that she will recover soon.”
Tamil Maanila Congress chief GK Vasan also visited the hospital where Jayalalithaa is undergoing treatment since 22 September. After his visit, he told media-persons that Jayalalithaa is being given specialised medical care.
Vasan reportedly met the director of the hospital and interacted with doctors, state ministers and was told that she is improving.
“Our best wishes to Chief Minister Jayalalithaa for a speedy recovery. We wish on behalf of Tamil Maanila Congress that she should resume her work for the people,” Vasan said.
CPI leader and Rajya Sabha MP D Raja said he spoke to doctors and AIADMK leaders present at the hospital and expressed his party’s wishes for her early recovery.
Meanwhile, Jayalalithaa supporters across the state performed special prayers at places of worship for Jayalalithaa’s speedy recovery. As per media reports, after observing ritualistic stipulations for days, a massive “milk pot” procession was taken out in Madurai by AIADMK workers and supporters in which a sizable number of women cadres participated.
Her supporters started the procession from Saravana Poigai tank and culminated at the Subramania Swamy temple in Tiruparankundram where the milk carried in pots was used for worship by them. Tamil Nadu Revenue Minister RB Udhayakumar and his party workers participated in the prayers.
