Post surgical strike: Delhi, 5 other states put on high alert
The alert identifies Delhi, along with Rajasthan, Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, Maharashtra and Gujarat as possible targets
In the view of a possible revenge attack by terrorists after the Indian Army carried out surgical strike on their launch pads in PoK, the Home Ministry on Friday issued an alert seeking stepped up vigil at strategic installations, industrial complexes, crowded places, airports, historical monuments and government buildings across the country, particularly in the metro cities.
The alert identified Delhi, along with Rajasthan, Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, Maharashtra and Gujarat as possible targets.
The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has been asked to intensify security at all industrial units, airports and other locations where they are deployed. Units of the Border Security Force deployed along the international border in Jammu, Punjab, Rajasthan and Gujarat have also been directed to step up vigil, NDTV has reported.
The Indian Army announced on Thursday that it had carried out surgical strikes in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir at seven different terrorist launch pads up to 2 km across the Line of Control or LoC and that "scores of terrorists were killed".
Pakistan has denied the raids by India and accused India of "fabrication of truth," alleging that what in fact took place was unprovoked cross-border firing by India.
