Projecting himself as the messiah of Muslims, Samajwadi Party leader and Minority Affairs minister Azam Khan said that a dark future stares at the community following the internecine battle in the ruling SP.

Khan said that the minority community is worried over the present political situation in the state and the country as they find their dreams being shattered.

Without specifically referring to the power struggle within the Samajwadi Party and the controversy over triple talaq and Uniform Civil Code, Khan said,“I deeply regret that some parties treat Muslims as their property. Muslims are rattled by recent political developments in UP and the country. They are concerned about their future.’’

“Muslims are neither water bubble, nor rolling stones who can be pushed to any desired direction. Muslims are closely watching the political situation,’’ said Khan.

In a veiled warning to the ruling SP, he said, “There is enough time to take a decision and that should be to ensure that the BJP is prevented from forming the next government in UP.’’

“The Muslim intelligentsia and common folks know where their interest lie and who can protect their interests. Muslims are hence watching leaders and parties having a firm grip on Muslims and their issues,’’ said Khan.

Without naming the BSP which has emerged as a challenge to the SP in retaining Mulsim support, Khan said, “Muslim leadership and Muslims at large want to walk along with secular Hindus. But they don’t want to fight a battle which has been lost. They also do not want to ally with forces which are unreliable.”

Khan in his guarded language took care not to name the SP but sent a warning loud and clear not to take Mulsim support for granted and that the SP was steadily losing their support due to the intra-family feud.

Meanwhile, SP general secretary Amar Singh’s brother Arvind Singh lashed out at his brother saying that Amar Singh is an expert in creating feuds in families and cautioned the SP chief not to rely on him.

“Amar Singh is solely responsible for the feud in Samajwadi Party. He is an expert in promoting family feuds and has done the same in his own family too. He did the same in Amitabh Bachchan’s family and is also behind the dispute between Ambani brothers.’’
