Omar Abdullah detained at NY airport for ‘random’ check: Thrice in 3 visits

Omar is in the US to talk in an event, which is organised by the New York University, on October 21 and he added he almost wished he should have stayed at home instead of going there

Omar Abdullah, former Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister, was detained at New York airport for two hours for extra immigration check. “Another ‘random’ immigration check upon landing in the US. Thrice in the three visits, the randomness is growing tiresome now,” Omar, the former CM, tweeted at midnight.

Omar is in the US to talk in an event, which is organised by the New York University, on October 21 and he added he almost wished he should have stayed at home instead of going there. He recollected his previous experience and of Shah Rukh Khan at New York airport through his tweet “I just spend two hours in a holding area and this happens every time. Unlike @iamsrk I don’t even catch Pokemon to pass the time”

Earlier, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan had faced a similar experience and he tweeted: “I fully understand & respect security with the way the world is, but to be detained at US immigration every damn time really really sucks. The brighter side is while waiting caught some really nice Pokemons” to express his displeasure.

The twitterati are not very kind to Omar as happened to Shah Rukh Khan earlier. The responses from twitterati include that “the American immigration did the job well, deserves applauds”, “this idiot must know that US is not India” “classic example of national security over VIP culture”etcetera.
